    Program Goals
The goal of the RGF Youth Corps is to provide real work skills and job training for young people. Apprentices will perform a wide variety of jobs on the farm, working independently and as a group. There will be a Youth Corps Staff Leader who will provide mentoring and guidance for all aspects of apprentices' experiences, and will support apprentices as they do real, meaningful work on the farm. In addition, other farm staff will help with trainings and work projects. Skills learned and practiced will include safety, punctuality, cooperation, work pace and planning, leadership and problem-solving. It is also the goal of the program to have fun while working!

    Program Summary
Each week will begin with a community meeting and job orientation. Equipment training sessions are offered on two different weeks. Most work will not require equpiment training, and so apprentices can sign up for individual weeks.

Safety is a priority, and apprentices are provided with proper supervision and training for all jobs, and tool and equipment use. Other provisions include safety equipment (eye protection, gloves, hearing protection), and a staff t-shirt.

Apprentices must provide their own lunch and snacks for each day, and bring appropriate clothes for working on the farm in all weather conditions. An extra set of clothes is recommended, and apprentices will be provided a space to keep their personal items for the week.

    Registration Information
Registration packets may be picked up at one of the information meetings. Each apprentice must attend one scheduled meeting at the farm to apply for the program. Students residing outside Franklin and Hampshire counties and unable to attend meetings are encouraged to call the Farm Office.

All registrations are due on May 3rd and program assignments will be made that week. A maximum of 8 apprentices will be assigned per weekly crew. Final paperwork and payments are due on May 14th.

Applicants are encouraged to note their availability during the summer for working. Example registrations are listed below:
